CX-7 Project

​Having worked in and around the Automotive industry for some 20+ years, I thought it would be interesting to see if I can put any of the skills I’ve learnt to use by seeing if a grotty old SUV can be brought back to life and made to look presentable.
The car of choice is a 2012 Mazda CX-7, to say this car has been unloved would be an understatement, it looks like Stig of the dump has been living in it!
Mechanically the car is pretty sound, so hopefully not to much to do there.

Issues

The main issues all look to be cosmetic as you can hopefully see from the pictures.

• Od de Tabaco (clearly a smokers car)
• Head liner stained
• Carpets look like they have never been cleaned
• Dash and console filthy and trim scratched
• Cigarette burns on centre console
• Chrome worn off Gear nob
• Front 12V socket not working
• Excessively worn Steering wheel
• Leather seats worn and minor damage
• Boot trim scratched and loose
• Boot carpet lifting
• Ad Blue empty
• Key fob works intermittently
• Head lights aged and yellow
• Front bumper poorly fitted
• Rear bumper poorly fitted
• Multiple small dents and paintwork damage
• Poor paintwork repairs
• Paint overspray on exterior chrome
• Alloy Wheels signs of corrosion

It is basically a garden shed on wheels.
The first wipe over of the dash to make it sanitary to drive ruined a new microfiber cloth​

No doubt we’ll find other issues as we go.
Its going to be a challenge…. ​
